SOUND
ON
Once there was a song travelling around. She found Calgary Woods and liked it so much that she decided to settle down there. The song asked the trees to make a little house for her to stay. Then, she asked the sea for some shells to build the roof of her house. The birds offered to lend her their legs so the house could stay strong against the wind. And a big flower grew out of the wall like a trumpet so everyone could hear the beautiful song. And now the song lives happily on the Isle of Mull singing for us in the woods.

I made work that reflected my own experience of the first lockdown and the emotions related to the restrictions that we all struggled with. The story is build as a set of 7 dioramas (not unlike the mythical creation of the World) and a free hanging sculpture representing the rebirth.
The story follows
a hero’s journey - from being imprisoned and trapped to the grand scape, while the creative force within her keeps her sane
I often get inspired by something that happened or
a piece of writing
‘...her tongue was relaxed and soft when she reached it out to me with devotion. I saw her soul flickering in the depths of her dark throat...’
